Timbavati Foundation: YES Internship Programme 2024

Join the Timbavati Foundation team through the YES for Youth program and be exposed to a one-year opportunity of learning and engaging with local community schools, community members and fellow public benefit organizations. 

Requirements: 

  • Education level – Matric certificate or higher. (English Language minimum of 55%)
  • Ages between 18 and 27 at the time of interview.
  • A police clearance certificate is required. Please ensure this is available or be prepared to have one requested. 
  • Must have a Tax number or prepared to request one.
  • Certified ID Copy.
  • Previously disadvantaged. 
  • Currently unemployed or as of 01 May 2024.
  • Never previously participated or been employed on a Youth Employment Service (YES for Youth) programme.
  • From the Greater Bushbuckridge areas.

The following Positions are available, Please read through the responsibilities of each Position and make sure you apply to the correct opportunity.

Small Business Assistant

  • Manage communication between the organization and entrepreneurs.
  • Respond to inquiries about products and services.
  • Conduct research and provide support to the hustlers’ team.
  • Record meeting minutes and manage reports for the hustlers.
  • Develop operational contacts and assist sales agents.
  • Support small projects under the direction of a coordinator or manager.
  • Cooperate positively to contribute to the organization’s growth by assisting staff and partners.

Content Creators

  • Document daily activities, lessons, and events of the Echo/CRC/Hustle programs through written and audio-visual content.
  • Capture impactful experiences and assist with environmental surveys.
  • Create content like impact stories and testimonials.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Develop content for school events and environmental/entrepreneurial days.
  • Support access to schools/sites.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports.
  • Assist with content creation for workshops and events.
  • Program Stewards (Various Positions Available)

Echo Stewards

  • Support the implementation of the Echo Programme in schools.
  • Develop and manage daily schedules.
  • Assist with environmental and conservation activities.
  • Submit weekly reports and photos.
  • Assist with data management and youth monitoring.
  • Track progress on lessons and provide mentoring/training as needed.
  • Manage team schedules and progress.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including HR issues.

CRC & Horticulture Stewards

  • Maintain green spaces by overseeing plant production, crop scheduling, and plant health.
  • Direct labor, install seasonal plants, and perform mulching, weeding, and gardening equipment maintenance.
  • Manage other gardens, deal with pests, and keep spaces clear of debris.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Work in vegetable gardens and environmental activities.
  • Assist with teaching and workshops.
  • Provide weekly reports and photos of activities.

ECD Stewards

  • Care for children’s health and well-being by feeding and changing them.
  • Observe and record children’s progress for communication with parents.
  • Help children develop core skills like math and reading.
  • Provide a safe environment and teach according to curriculum.
  • Organize outings, encourage physical activity, and support mental well-being.
  • Teach life skills like cooking and foster communication and social skills.
  • Assist children with educational disabilities.

Travel & Tourism Stewards

  • Positions available for Front Desk Representatives, Concierges, Housekeeping Staff, Food and Beverage Managers, and Kitchen Staff.
  • Ideal candidates possess excellent communication and customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, curiosity about other cultures, and a teamwork mentality.
  • Ethical qualities such as commitment to excellence, respect for others, trustworthiness, honesty, accountability, leadership, fairness, and discretion are valued.
