The RBIDZ (Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone) Bursary is aimed at students within the King Cetshwayo District in KwaZulu-Natal pursuing undergraduate studies in specific fields.

The Bursary will provide funding for but not limited to the following fields of study:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Information Management Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Computer and Data Science
  • Architectural Studies
  • Construction Studies
  • Property Development
  • Architectural Technology
  • Town & Regional Planning
  • Economics / Economic Development
  • Accounting
  • Internal Auditing
  • Business Management
  • Agriculture Economics 
  • Agriculture Engineering
  • Please note: If your field is not listed here, Please specify on the Bursary Application Form which field you are applying for. 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Must reside within the King Cetshwayo District, KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Applicants must be from a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Currently in Matric (in 2023) or completed Matric.
  • Minimum level 5 in English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, and Economics in Matric.
  • Pursuing full-time studies in listed fields at recognized South African universities.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

Required Documents:

Ensure that all submitted documents are certified by a commissioner of oaths within the last three months.

  • ID document
  • Matric certificate/statement of results
  • Proof of acceptance from a recognized university or university of technology
  • Proof of parental/guardian income
  • Reference letter from a teacher or community leader
  • Motivational letter explaining why you should be selected and your career prospects
  • Proof of residence in the King Cetshwayo District
