The Northern Cape Provincial Transversal Bursaries Programme aims to empower unemployed youth within the Northern Cape, by providing funding to financially and academically deserving candidates.
Northern Cape Provincial Government: Bursary Programme 2024
Fields of study:
Bursaries will be awarded to Northern Cape students, for undergraduate studies within these fields:
- Architecture
- Arts
- Bachelors Education – Foundation Phase (Grade R to 3): Setswana Home Language and Afrikaans Home Language, Mathematics (Numeracy) / Braille South African Sign Languages
- Bachelors Education – Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 to 6): Setswana Home Language and Afrikaans Home Language, Mathematics / Natural Science & Technology Braille / South African Sign Language & Neurodevelopmental Needs

Eligibility Criteria for NCPG Bursary:
- South African citizenship.
- Unemployed status.
- Must reside within the Northern Cape province.
- Between 18 and 35 years old.
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Full-time undergraduate studies within specified fields.
- Studying or accepted to study at a recognized and accredited public institution of Higher Education in South Africa.
- Strong academic performance.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Given to financially needy and academically deserving applicants.
What the Bursary covers:
- Covers registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed study material, and accredited accommodation.
- The bursary value is determined by a financial means test according to the applicant’s household income:
- R0 to R350,000 per annum: Up to R100,000
- R350,001 to R550,000 per annum: Up to R80,000
- R550,001 to R750,000 per annum: Up to R60,000
- More than R750,001 per annum: Up to R50,000
- Does not cover outstanding or pre-existing study debt.
