Astron Energy: Bursary Programme 2024
Astron Energy is inviting South African students to submit applications for the 2024 Bursary Programme. The Astron Energy Bursary Program for the 2024 academic year offers financial support to South African students pursuing Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in various fields of study (see below).
Bursary Fields
Bursaries are offered for the following Fields od study:
- Built Environment
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Science
The bursary will cover the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Textbooks
- Accommodation
- Food and other approved necessities
Additional Benefits: Bursary recipients will receive the following benefits:
- Continuous psycho-social support (provided by Excel@Uni, the bursary administrator)
- Light-touch mentorship for developing essential skills necessary for personal and professional growth
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the Astron Energy Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Age under 35 years
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Enrolled or intending to study full-time in one of the specified fields (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, Masters, etc.)
- Studying in your qualification-level for the first time (not repeating a degree)
- Enrolled or accepted at any registered higher education institution in South Africa
- Strong academic record

Required Documents:
Submit the following supporting documents along with your application:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Grade 11 final report and Matric term 2 report (with school stamp), if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate (certified copy), if you’ve completed Matric
- Most recent academic transcript (certified copy), if currently studying
- Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance from an accredited institution for 2024 if you’re not yet studying (on the institution’s letterhead)
- Proof of other bursary awards or NSFAS (if applicable) – bursary agreement/letter/offer
- Masters/Doctoral students: recommendation letter by supervisor
- Parents or guardians’ ID documents or death certificates if deceased (certified copies)
- Parents or guardians/all household members’ proof of household income (to be combined into 1 document) (certified copy)
- Applicants under 18 years old: signed consent form completed by your parent or guardian
- If disabled: Doctor’s Letter and Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form

- All certified documents must be less than 3 months old.
- If you have multiple documents for one submission, please combine them into a single file.
