The following Internship Opportunities are open for applications:
Finance Intern
Requirements: Degree / Diploma in: Accounting or equivalent.
Duties: Assist the Grants Programmer Officer with day-to-day financial operations. Assist with updating SOPs that comply with rules and regulations of the WHC and Wits projects. Assist with budgeting for funding applications. Assist with processing purchase orders and making payments. Assist with following up on clearance and signing of procurement documents. Follow up on outstanding invoices. Keeping track on expenditure on the various projects using the templates provided. Assist with the processing and verification of travel claims and meeting costs. Assist grant officer with generating reports for various projects (quarterly, annual and ad hoc).
Contracts Intern
Requirements: An Honours degree in any field.
Duties: Assist project managers to manage various contracts processes from initiation to full execution. Work Assist with project managers to complete relevant HR forms (Job description, recruitment requisition, advert). Assist project managers and WHC to setup recruitment advertisements (creating and posting ads on social media for SBIMB). Liaise with WHC HR for processing applications. Support Projects office in admin activities including scheduling of meetings. Assist with Ethics submission to Institutional Ethics Committee. Demonstrate effective self-management. Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities.
Advantageous: Background in Law or Master’s degree would be an added advantage
Data Systems Intern
Requirements: Tertiary qualification (Honour’s or Master’s degree) in IT, Computer science or the equivalent
Duties: Upgrade systems with new releases and models. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues. Liaise with new users and orientate them to the cluster. Set up user account and provide SOP for general use. Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self management. Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained. Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.
Skills and Competencies:
- Capacity for inquiry, research, logical and analytical thinking and good powers of reasoning and troubleshooting.
- Service oriented, customer focused approach.
- Abilities to plan, juggle multiple priorities within restricted resources and time.
