Vaal University of Technology (VUT) uses Blackboard as its learning management system (LMS) to support online teaching and learning. Blackboard is a web-based platform designed to facilitate communication between students and instructors, provide access to course materials, and enable assessment and feedback.
To access VUT Blackboard, follow these steps:
- Open your web browser and navigate to the VUT Blackboard login page: https://vut.blackboard.com/.
- Enter your VUT email address in the username field. It should be in the format of your student number followed by “@vut.ac.za” (e.g., 12345678@vut.ac.za).
- Enter your password in the password field. If you are logging in for the first time, your password will be your date of birth in the format “ddmmyyyy”.
- Click on the “Login” button.

Once you are logged in to Blackboard, you will be able to access your courses, view course announcements, download course materials, participate in discussions, submit assignments, take quizzes and tests, and view your grades.
It is important to note that Blackboard is only available to registered VUT students and staff, and you will not be able to access it without a valid VUT email address and password. If you have trouble logging in or accessing your courses, you can contact the VUT IT Helpdesk for assistance.
